Chasing Rainbows: A Photographic Journey into the World of Tanagers
by Vivek Tiwari
Description - Step into the vibrant, high-definition world of the Neotropics as we explore one of the most diverse and dazzling bird families on Earth: the Tanagers. From the sharp primary colors of the Mountain Tanagers to the multi-hued rainbows of "tangaras" like the Green-headed Tanager, the almost 400 species in this family are more than just a splash of color; they are the very essence of Neotropical forests. In this presentation, we will explore the fascinating and totally confusing taxonomy of these "true" tanagers (vs. their North American cousins which now belong to the Cardinal family!), while talking about the challenges of capturing their beauty on camera, whether on feeders or on a forest forest. Join us for a visual celebration of the birds that are often called the Jewels of the Neotropics.
