Take some time out of your lunch break to look at some babies that are so awkward they’re cute, listen to the shocking sounds of the graceful herons and egrets, and get your very own “I saw an egret today” sticker! Amidst the bustle of Mountain View these birds have congregated high in the trees of Shorebird Way, making their home on the appropriately named street. Join us as we watch the dramas of sticks unfold, spot the first wobbly steps of chicks venturing out of the nest, and courtships of these beautiful animals. SCVAS volunteers will be present to answer your questions and share our favorite families of egrets and herons. Spotting scopes and binoculars will be available for the public to use.
Public parking is available on Charleston Road and Space Park Way. Handicapped parking spots are located in the vicinity of the rookery.
