BEGINNER'S BIRD AND PLANT ID "FIRST OF THE SEASON" SERIES WALK AT LAKE CUNNINGHAM PARK (Joint Event with California Native Plant Society and Open Space Authority)

Do you love being outdoors? Do you want to deepen your appreciation of nature by learning to identify the birds and plants around you? At the onset of summer, join Arvind Kumar, Ashok Jethanandani, and Vicki Silvas-Young for a beginner’s bird and plant identification walk through Lake Cunningham Park. This park provides food, water, and shelter for our local breeding birds, and its native garden is utilized by these breeding birds due to its habitat value. On this walk, you will learn to identify the common birds of our area, as well as the native plants they depend on for food and shelter.

Trip Difficulty: 2 miles round trip, level paved path

Other Trip Notes: Please bring a hat, water, and binoculars. Wear comfortable walking shoes.

Directions: From US-101, exit Tully Rd. Continue east on Tully Rd. Park entrance road is on your left in 2 miles. Continue into the park, following the signs to the marina. Latitude/Longitude: 37.335000, -121.810047

Facilities: Bathrooms are available at the beginning of the trip; drinking water is not available; cell phone service is good.
