Field Trip: Member-Only Birding Coyote Valley Open Space Preserve (Morgan Hill)

As Winter sets in, come explore with us on an easy to moderate hike to discover the birds of Coyote Valley Preserve where residents, migrants, and vagrants hang out away from the hustle and bustle of the Santa Clara Valley. Coyote Valley Preserve sits on the edge of Coyote Valley affording a rich habitat for seasonal species such as Rock Wren, Ferruginous Hawk, Yellow-billed Magpie, Say’s Phoebe, Loggerhead Shrike, and Northern Harrier in open grassland and blue oak savannah.
Trip Difficulty: 2 miles, packed-dirt trails, muddy or possibly muddy after rain, uneven or rutted trails, some shade, poison oak alongside trail (wear long pants)
Other Trip Notes: Bring a hat, water, your bird "IDers", and binoculars. Please wear sturdy hiking shoes.

Meet: Preserve parking lot
Directions: From US-101 in Morgan Hill, exit Bailey Ave. Travel west for about 0.7 miles then turn left onto Santa Teresa Blvd. Continue for about 2 miles then turn right onto Palm Ave. The preserve is at the end of the road. Latitude/Longitude: 37.171062, -121.727388
Facilities: pit toilet, cell coverage may be intermittent or non-existent
