Early spring birds at Santa Teresa County Park
Located on the southern end of the Santa Teresa Hills, this park has a large picnic area in a grassy meadow which is surrounded by rock-strewn hillsides. We'll explore several of the trails around the picnic area looking for resident specialties like Rock Wren, Rufous-crowned Sparrow, and California Thrasher while keeping our eyes open for early arriving migrants.
Trip Difficulty: 2-3 miles, gravel and dirt trails, some hills (less than 300 ft elevation gain), little to no shade

Meet: Picnic area parking lot
Directions: Directions: From CA-85 S or US-101, exit Bernal Rd. Travel south on Bernal Rd for about 2.5 miles then turn left onto the park entrance road. Continue to the first parking lot and pay for parking at the pay station. The Pueblo Day Use Area is a little farther down the entrance road near the bathrooms.
