Field Trip: Parkway Lakes and Metcalf Park (South San Jose)

Parkway Lakes are located between US-101 and Monterey Hwy just north of Metcalf Ave. More of a wide spot in Coyote Creek than a lake, this is great habitat for ducks, wading birds and geese. We’ll also have good views of Coyote Ridge which we can scan for raptors.

Optional: pack your own lunch/snack and we'll picnic together afterwards.

Trip Difficulty: 2 miles, gravel trails, muddy or possibly muddy after rain, rocky trails, little or no elevation gain, some shade

Meet: Metcalf Park near restroom

Directions: From US-101 South or Hwy 85 South, exit south onto Bernal Rd. Immediately turn right onto the Monterey Hwy ramp then turn left onto Monterey Rd. Continue for 0.6 miles, turn left onto Menard Dr, then turn right onto Forsum Rd. Metcalf Park will be on your left in 0.1 miles. Street parking. Lat/Long: 37.234251, -121.762391
