Field Trip: Sierra Vista OSP (San Jose)
This is a joint event with Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority.
Sierra Vista Open Space Preserve is in the hills above Alum Rock Park. We'll walk the Sierra Vista trail and, if there's time, the Aquila Loop in search of raptors, especially golden eagles, with good views both above and below us. Rock wrens are also likely.
Trip Difficulty: 3-4 miles, packed-dirt trails, hilly (elevation gain over 300 ft), little to no shade

Meet: Preserve parking lot
Directions: From I-680 in San Jose, exit Berryessa Rd. Travel east towards the hills for a little over a mile. Turn left onto Piedmont Rd, then turn right onto Sierra Rd (be prepared for a curvy, uphill drive). The preserve parking lot is on your right in about 4 miles.
