Field Trip: Stevens Creek County Park (Cupertino)

This Cupertino park in the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains includes a riparian corridor along Stevens Creek, woodlands and chaparral. The wide variety of habitats in this park make it a top birding destination for migrants and local breeding birds.

Trip Difficulty: 2.5 miles, gravel trails, packed-dirt trails, lawns (potentially wet), muddy or possibly muddy after rain, uneven or rutted trails, some hills (less than 300 ft elevation gain), steep in some sections, some steep drop offs next to trails, some shade, poison oak alongside trail (wear long pants)

Meet: Chestnut Picnic Area Parking Lot

Directions: From I-280 in Cupertino take Foothill Expy exit. Continue south on Foothill Blvd for about 2 miles (it becomes Stevens Canyon Rd). Turn left into the first park entrance and meet in the Chestnut Picnic Area parking lot (first parking lot on your left). Latitude/Longitude: 37.306812, -122.073302

Facilities: bathroom, cell coverage may be intermittent or non-existent
