Pacific-slope Flycatcher by Deanna Tucker

Strolling for Birds at Overfelt Gardens

The end of May brings the end of nesting season for many birds in the Overfelt Gardens in San Jose. Pacific Slope Flycatchers, Western Wood Pewees, and Hutton’s Vireos are some of the birds we will be looking for in the mature tree growth that is abundant in this small urban park.Red-breasted Nuthatches and Swainson’s Thrushes have been reported there in May as well. We might have the chance to find Yellow Warblers, Townsend’s Warblers, and even the last of the season Yellow-rumped Warblers. Of course, we need to be on the lookout for Black-headed Grosbeak and Western Tanager.
