Summer Birding at Lake Almaden (San Jose)

Join us for a summer birding adventure at Almaden Lake Park and Los Alamitos Creek Trail, a scenic urban oasis nestled in San Jose’s Almaden Valley. We'll explore the fields and lake in the park, then follow the tree-lined Los Alamitos Creek Trail upstream through rich riparian habitat teeming with songbirds, woodpeckers, and raptors. This easy, accessible walk offers a variety of habitats and is perfect for birders of all levels.

Trip Difficulty: 2 miles, paved trails, packed-dirt trails, little or no elevation gain, some shade

Meet: Near blue bathrooms in the Winfield Blvd parking lot

Directions: From CA-85 in San Jose, exit Almaden Expy. Drive south for 0.8 miles, turn left onto Coleman Rd, then make the first right onto Winfield Blvd. Park entrance is on your right in less than a half mile. Latitude/Longitude: 37.2389964, -121.8698891
