Summer Birding under the Oaks (San Jose)

Summer activity is underway at Guadalupe Oak Grove Park located in a residential area of Almaden Valley. Wide flat trails meander through shady groves of oaks. We will look for Western Bluebirds, Acorn Woodpeckers, California Scrub-Jays, Chestnut-backed Chickadees, Oak Titmice and other birds that call the oak woodlands home.

Trip Difficulty: 2 miles, gravel trails, packed-dirt trails, little or no elevation gain, some shade

English will be the primary language of this field trip, but other languages spoken by our trip leaders include some German.

Beginner Friendly, Loaner Binoculars Available, Family Friendly Ages 4 and up

Meet: Parking lot off Thorntree Dr

Directions: From CA-85 in San Jose, exit Almaden Expy. Continue south for 1.2 miles then turn right onto McAbee Rd. Travel 0.3 miles on McAbee then turn right onto Thorntree Dr. Parking lot is on your left in 0.3 miles. Latitude/Longitude: 37.236394, -121.878188
