Hi, I’m Shravan (Shrav) Sundaram and since I was 6-7 years of age I have been captivated by birding, wildlife watching, and ecology. The defining moment that sparked this childhood interest was observing nesting Cooper’s Hawks every year outside my front porch feed and raise their young. I have seriously pursued wildlife photography since 2009 and some of my favorite subjects include raptors, hummingbirds, woodpeckers, bobcats, foxes, and more.

The objective of this presentation is to share some rationale and techniques for taking images in low light situations. Typically we are often told that the best photography is during clear, direct morning or evening lighting. While this lighting often produces stunning images, what about situations where we cannot achieve this lighting? These could include conditions such as deep forest, subjects that are crepuscular, or even subjects that are active during midday when light is harsh. Sometimes overcast and low light conditions are our best or only option to photograph certain species. I hope you find this presentation informative and enjoy the images that I have to share!
