In this presentation I will share images of endangered birds I've had the opportunity to see and photograph during trips to Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Florida and Tanzania. In addition, I will provide some background on why the birds have become vulnerable to extinction and describe conservation strategies which are being implemented.
I have been a photographer off and on since high school. However, it was not until 2018 that I acquired a DSLR and became an enthusiastic, amateur wildlife photographer. Since that time, I have had the opportunity to travel extensively and have been privileged to see some of the most highly endangered birds on the planet. Since retiring from the University of San Francisco, where I taught graduate students in public health, I have become quite involved in conservation work focused on endangered macaws and parrots. I am by no means an expert on bird conservation but I am passionate about learning more and sparking interest in these birds through my photos.
