Members Only Field Trip: Bird Banding with SFBBO at Coyote Creek Field Station (Milpitas)

This is a joint event with San Francisco Bay Bird Observatory.

We're visiting the Coyote Creek Field Station for a bird banding demonstration with the San Francisco Bay Bird Observatory! We'll get to see each step of the bird banding process, from capture to release, getting close up views of our local birds while learning about the research done at the field station. So bring your binoculars and your questions for this fun morning out with the birds! Participants will meet at the gathering point before carpooling to the Coyote Creek Field Station. Please obscure the location/delay posting any rarity eBird sightings by several weeks before posting any rarities to deter trespassing.

Trip Difficulty: 1-2 miles, one flight of stairs, paved trails, gravel trails, packed-dirt trails, little or no elevation gain, some shade

Other Trip Notes: Please arrive on time at the meeting place for a quick orientation before we carpool to the field station. Due to the limited staff on site, we will not be able to offer any sort of early departures from the trip. If you will be going, plan to stay for the whole length of the event.

English will be the primary language of this field trip, but other languages spoken by our trip leaders include German.

Family Friendly Ages 10 and up, Beginner Friendly, All children should be accompanied by an adult.

Meet: Big Al's Parking Lot (27 Ranch Dr, Milpitas)

Directions: Big Al's Parking Lot (27 Ranch Dr, Milpitas, CA 95035). Latitude/Longitude: 37.426903, -121.922701, near Highway 237. NOTE: caravanning required. We will carpool to the field station from the meeting spot.

Facilities: porta-potty, cell phone service, No trash receptacles, so please plan to pack out anything you bring in.

Parking Type and Fees: paved parking lot, dirt parking lot, ADA compliant spots, no fees, At CCFS, where we will carpool to, the lot is gravel.
