Acorn Woodpecker and chick: Denis Baylor
Naturalist Training - (Feathered) Families in Santa Clara County
Diversity goes deeper than the feathers. We're exploring survival strategies of some of the birds that call Santa Clara County home in the spring.
Santa Clara County is home to an amazing number of species, and spring is a great time to witness it. With their brightest feathers and most complicated songs, birds are happy to announce themselves at this time of year. We're taking a different look at bird diversity with some of the species that spend spring raising the next generation in our neighborhoods. From cross-species communication to literal community building, long-term residents to frequent flyers, we're looking at five species trying to survive and thrive in Silicon Valley. Join SCVBA staff, Carolyn Knight in this dive into the adaptations and behaviors that allow these birds to survive, and sometimes even thrive in the complex world of Silicon Valley.
This program is presented with Keep Coyote Creek Beautiful and the Bioblitz Club.
