Sunnyvale WPCP Landfill Area

Join us for a 2.0-mile walk along the canals and over the top of the landfill "hill," which is west of Sunnyvale's Water Pollution Control Plant. We may see egrets, herons, American White Pelicans, Common Ravens, and possibly Wilson's Snipes and Western Meadowlarks.

Trip Difficulty: 2.0 miles. The trails are flat and dirt, except when we climb the steps to the top of the landfill, which has an elevation gain of about 200 feet.

Other Trip Notes: Please bring sunscreen, layers, and rain gear, just in case.

Meet: On the northside of W Caribbean Dr, just west of Borregas Ave, where the Bay Trail meets the road

Directions: Note! New starting point! The parking lot on Carl Rd is closed. From CA-237 in Sunnyvale, exit Lawrence Expy/Caribbean Dr. Continue onto Caribbean Dr. In a little over one mile, you’ll pass Borregas Ave. After you’ve passed Borregas Ave, park anywhere along W Caribbean Drive. Latitude/Longitude: 37.417656,-122.019014

Facilities: There is a port-a-potty near the start (and end)

Parking Type and Fees: No fee to park along W. Caribbean Drive
