Ulistac Natural Area (Santa Clara)

Join us for a leisurely bird outing to look for songbirds, woodpeckers, raptors and water birds. This urban open space with oak and riparian woodlands and seasonal wetlands contains the last 40 acres of natural, undeveloped land along the Guadalupe River in the city of Santa Clara. Park volunteers are continuing to remove invasive species and add California native plants, making this place a rich urban sanctuary great for year-round birding. This trip is geared towards beginners but all are welcome!

Trip Difficulty: approximately 2 miles; packed-dirt trails, some shade, Our route is mostly flat, but there is a paved ramp leading up to the levee (elevation gain of about 40 feet). There is no shade on the levee.

Other Trip Notes: Please bring binoculars, water, and sun protection. Mosquito repellent recommended.
