Winter at Coyote Valley OSP (Morgan Hill)

Located between San Jose and Morgan Hill, this park of rolling hills, oak savanna, serpentine rock outcroppings, and native grasslands is a great place to spot raptors. We will explore the meadow for about ½ mile on a flat dirt path, then if time permits we will hike a short portion of the Arrowhead Loop Trail. Raptors such as American Kestrels, Northern Harriers, and Red-tailed Hawks are expected. We’ll also be on the lookout for Yellow-billed Magpies, Loggerhead Shrikes, and Say’s Phoebes.

Meet: Preserve parking lot

Directions: From US-101 in Morgan Hill, exit Bailey Ave. Travel west for about 0.7 miles then turn left onto Santa Teresa Blvd. Continue for about 2 miles then turn right onto Palm Ave. The preserve is at the end of the road. Latitude/Longitude: 37.171062, -121.727388

Facilities: ADA accessible pit toilet, no water
