Young Birders Club: Calero Reservoir

Join the Young Birders Club for a special birding outing at Calero Reservoir, one of the best local places to witness the spectacular “Grebe Rush”, a synchronized display in which pairs run across the water side by side.

This will be a mostly stationary outing, with minimal walking. We’ll stay along the shoreline at a good viewing location, scanning the water and allowing time for the grebes to initiate their displays. We may also see other wintering waterbirds on the reservoir, including ducks, gulls, and occasional raptors passing overhead.

This trip is designed for young birders, but parents and siblings are welcome to attend. We welcome birders of all skill levels! Loaner binoculars are available for participants.
