Young Birders Club: Hawkwatch at Hawk Hill

Join the YBC for a Hawkwatch at Hawk Hill, our very first outing in Marin County!

During the autumn months, hawks, eagles, falcons, and vultures migrate south in search of warmer weather and food. Hawk Hill is one of the best places in the Bay Area to watch this migration, as the birds funnel through the Marin Headlands along the coast, where the hills and winds create ideal conditions for migration.

This is more of a stationary event. We’ll stay at the hilltop to watch and count the migrating raptors as they pass overhead. Bring your binoculars, dress in layers, and get ready to see how many different raptors we can spot!

Trip Difficulty: 0.5 miles, paved trails, some elevation change, mostly stationary

Meet: Hawk Hill Parking

Directions: Follow US-101 N after crossing the Golden Gate Bridge. Take Exit 442 and merge onto Alexander Ave in Marin County. Turn left onto Bunker Rd, then turn left onto McCullough Rd.
