The Lean Green Birding Machine is part of a long SCVAS tradition of cycling Birdathon teams who manage not to crash while looking for birds on their bikes. This they found 85 species in their trek along the Bay.
Carter Gasiorowski and his dad jumped into Birdathon with a whirlwind tour down Stevens Creek towards the Bay to find 87 species in their 4-hour first ever Birdathon!
Chuq von Rospach took a trip around Santa Clara County in his Big Day. The Lonesome Dove found 77 species and added 8 birds to the personal year list in this tour of the county’s varied habitats
Eve Meier and Patricia Lynch took a ramble through the Palo Alto Baylands and the surrounding hotspots for a socially distanced 4-hour trip that saved the species count for the very end.

The Green Herons pedaled it out for this year’s Birdathon, and by the looks of their report, found more adventure than was bargained for in the process. No birds were harmed in the making of this Birdathon, but we can’t make the same promise for the bikes that were involved.
The Cupertino Creek Cruisers has been birding along Stevens Creek for 17 years. 2020 has demanded we all change how we go about our lives, but still, the Cruisers persisted.
The Board Not Bored team, consisting of current and past members of SCVAS’s Board of Directors, birded on Sunday April 26 in a 4-hour distributed Birdathon. The team totalled 108 species.

The 5-Milers is a 4-hour Birdathon group where everyone stayed within a five-mile radius of their home. Even with that restriction, the team gathered 131 species!
The Sharpies went on a distributed 24-hour Birdathon on April 24. Each of the sub-teams (13 members in all) kept to their 5 Mile Radius and found 166 species (148 with photos or audio)!
