Friends of “R” House and Santa Clara Valley Audubon Society invite you to the historic Rengstorff House and its grounds for our second "Birds of the Bay" collaboration this year. Join us to learn more about our avian neighbors, a walkthrough of the museum's period interiors, and activities in the garden.
This free event will feature:
guided birdwatching walks for migratory waterfowl at Shoreline at Mountain View, a wildlife sanctuary along the Pacific Flyway for birds like great and snowy egrets, sandpipers, shovelers, dunlin, ruddy ducks, green-winged teals, pelicans, and avocets
exhibit table in the garden with knowledgeable birders sharing educational information and a display of bird specimens
tour of the garden covering the restoration story of the grounds from a former landfill to a historically inspired backdrop for the house
museum home open house with a docent onsite to answer questions and share historical highlights
coloring table and crafts for the kids (and enthusiastic adults!)
Binoculars will be provided for bird walk-goers.
Rengstorff House is nestled in Shoreline at Mountain View, a protected wildlife and recreation area. With miles of trails to explore, a sailing lake, a golf course, and two restaurants nearby, you can make a day of your visit to Shoreline.
Drop-ins are welcome.
