Don Edwards at Alviso

The highlights of this refuge are New Chicago Marsh, a salt pond with man-made islands, and a native garden. We will target the migrating shorebirds that will be returning and we’ll head out to see the nesting colonies of skimmers, terns, and gulls.

Trip Difficulty: 3 miles, packed-dirt trails, uneven or rutted trails, little or no elevation gain, little to no shade

Meet: Don Edwards Environmental Education Center main parking lot

Directions: From CA-237 exit north onto Zanker Rd. Continue on Zanker Rd for about 2.5 miles (Zanker Rd becomes Los Esteros Rd). Make a sharp right turn onto Grand Blvd and continue into the park. Lat/Long: 37.439242, -121.959694

Facilities: ADA accessible porta-potty, cell phone service
