Field Trip: Beginning Birding Don Edwards Nat'l Wildlife Refuge in Alviso (San Jose)

This field trip explores parts of the newly opened Don Edwards National Wildlife Refuge In Alviso. We'll walk the boardwalk of the New Chicago Marsh - a great spot for shorebirds like Least Sandpipers and Long-billed Dowitchers, and Wilson's Phalarope. We'll also explore the Mallard Slough Trail.

Trip Difficulty: 2-3 miles, gravel trails, little or no elevation gain, little to no shade, Wood planks over the marsh

Other Trip Notes: Bring water, a hat and sunscreen. Loaner Binoculars Available
