Field Trip: Mayfair Ranch Trail, Rancho Cañada del Oro Open Space (Morgan Hill)
This is a joint event with Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority
This hike includes some uphill climbing. We will bird riparian woodland, oak woodland, chaparral and grassland and expect Acorn Woodpeckers, House Wrens, Black-headed Grosbeaks and Red-shouldered Hawk.
Optional: pack your own lunch/snack and we'll picnic together afterwards.
Trip Difficulty: 4 miles, packed-dirt trails, hilly (elevation gain over 300 ft), some shade, poison oak alongside trail (wear long pants)
Other Trip Notes: The route will likely be a out and back up along Mayfair Ranch Trail. Plan on hot weather, so bring ample water.

Meet: Overflow parking lot
Directions:From US-101, exit Bailey Ave. Continue west on Bailey Ave for 3 miles. Turn left onto McKean Rd, continue for 2.5 miles, then turn right onto Casa Loma Rd. The preserve is located at the end of Casa Loma Rd and the overflow lot is 1/4 mile up the road from the main parking lot - please do not park in the gravel equestrian lot.
