Calero Creek Trail Spring Birds (San Jose)
We will start at the Stile Ranch trailhead in the Almaden Valley of San Jose and look for hummingbirds and late sparrows. We will then follow the creek trail towards the IBM Almaden orchard looking for chaparral birds, riparian species, woodpeckers, and raptors. Possible birds include Warbling Vireo, Ash-throated Flycatcher, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, and Pacific-slope Flycatcher.
Notes: Wear shoes that you don’t mind getting wet; we will be stepping over a small creek.
Trip Difficulty: 3.0 (round trip), dirt and grass route, muddy or possibly muddy after rain, little or no elevation gain, trail barrier that you must step over, some shade

Meet: Stiles Ranch dirt parking lot on San Vicente Avenue
Directions: From CA-85 in San Jose, exit Almaden Expy south. Drive south for about 5 miles, turn right onto Harry Rd, take the next left onto McKean Rd and go 1.3 miles. Turn left onto Fortini Rd, in 0.6 miles turn left onto San Vicente Ave. Parking is on the right. Latitude/Longitude: 37.203347, -121.806014
