Field Trip: Coyote Creek Nature Trail (Morgan Hill)

We’ll explore the Coyote Creek area in the period between breeding season and fall migration. Starting at the Coyote Creek Visitor Center in Morgan Hill, we’ll follow the shaded creek to look and listen carefully for summer birds. Then we’ll check the open orchards for soaring raptors such as White-tailed Kites, Red-shouldered Hawks, and Golden Eagles. This trip is one mile long, has no elevation gain, and takes only two hours. It’s perfect for beginners, young birders, and anyone who wants to observe nature in the summer.

Trip Difficulty: 1 mile, packed-dirt trails, rocky trails, uneven or rutted trails, little or no elevation gain, little to no shade

Other Trip Notes: Bring water and sun protection. Trip cancels in extreme heat.
