First Day of Winter - Beginner’s Bird and Plant Identification Walk at Lake Cunningham Park with California Native Plant Society and Open Space Authority
As winter sets in, join us for the fourth seasonal walk this year: a beginner’s bird and plant identification walk through Lake Cunningham Park in San Jose. Lake Cunningham is a major destination for waterfowl and migratory birds, and its native garden is home for many resident birds for its habitat value.
Trip Difficulty: 2 miles round trip, paved, dirt, and grass trails; little or no elevation gain
Other Trip Notes: Wear your comfortable walking shoes, bring a hat, water, your bird and plant list, and binoculars. Leader will monitor the weather before the trip.

Meet: Marina parking lot
Directions: The Lake Cunningham Marina is on the western shore of the lake, next to Raging Waters, on the opposite side of the park from the main entrance on White Road (2305 S. White Road). In Google maps, search for "Lake Cunningham Marina" Latitude/Longitude: 37.334164, -121.809997 to be directed to the Marina parking lot.
Facilities: ADA accessible bathroom, bathroom, cell phone service
Parking Type and Fees: paved parking lot, parking tickets are $6 and are dispensed by a machine; please use a credit card or exact change.
