Explore levees along numerous settling ponds with varying amounts of water and vegetation, plus a mile-long levee along Llagas Creek with dense riparian habitat. Ducks, shorebirds, wintering passerines and raptors.

This trip involves driving to the various birding spots at the location, and due to COVID we will not be carpooling at the site. Signups for this trip will be per vehicle. When you register for this trip, you (the driver) and any passengers are welcome.

Trip Difficulty: Short walks from multiple car stops. Less than a mile of walking.

Meet: administration building at 1500 Southside Dr, Gilroy, CA 95020

Directions: From US-101 in southern Gilroy, exit Monterey Rd (exit 355). Travel north on Monterey Rd, then make the first right onto E Luchessa Ave. E Luchessa Ave passes under the freeway then angles right and becomes Rossi Ln, then dead-ends at Southside Dr. Turn left onto Southside Dr and follow it ½ mile to the treatment plant entrance on your right. Turn right into the treatment plant facility, continue straight until the road dead ends at the administration bldg and park in the lot. Address: South County Regional Wastewater Authority (SCRWA), 1500 Southside Dr. Gilroy, CA 95020.
