Field Trip: Little Uvas (Morgan Hill)

This is a joint event with Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority.

Little Uvas Creek is located in Morgan Hill and normally closed to the public. We’ll explore the five small, spring-fed ponds on the property among pine and oak woodland, looking for spring migrants and waterfowl.

Trip Difficulty: ~2 miles, gravel trails, packed-dirt trails, muddy or possibly muddy after rain, some hills (less than 300 ft elevation gain), some steep drop offs next to trails, little to no shade, poison oak alongside trail (wear long pants)

Other Trip Notes: Thick fog or rain may cancel trip. Please arrive on time as gate will be locked at the start of the walk. Wear layers, sunscreen, water and binoculars

Meet: Gate at property entrance

Directions: From US-101, exit Bailey Ave. Continue west on Bailey Ave for 3 miles, then turn left onto McKean Rd. After 2.4 miles, McKean Rd becomes Uvas Rd. Continue on Uvas Rd for 5.2 miles. The entrance to the property is on your right, at the gate marked UC01, about 1.5 miles after the intersection with Croy Rd. Latitude/Longitude: 37.091319, -121.719653
