Shorebirds at Don Edwards NWR in Alviso
This field trip explores parts of Don Edwards National Wildlife Refuge. We'll walk the boardwalk of the New Chicago Marsh - a great spot for shorebirds like Least Sandpipers, Phalaropes, and Long-billed Dowitchers. We'll also bird the upland marsh areas and entrance road for ducks, shorebirds, and other waterfowl.
Trip Difficulty: 2 miles, flat trails with no elevation gain
Other Trip Notes: Bring hat and lots of water in case it's hot.

Directions: From CA-237 exit north onto Zanker Rd. Continue on Zanker Rd for about 2.5 miles (Zanker Rd becomes Los Esteros Rd). Make a sharp right turn onto Grand Blvd. Small dirt parking lot is on your left in ½ mile. Latitude/Longitude: 37.435903, -121.958054
Facilities: porta-potty in main parking lot which is a short walk from the meeting location
Parking Type and Fees: No parking fees. Parking in dirt parking lot or paved entrance road.
