Southern Arizona is one of those great birding destinations. Although it is located in the middle of the desert, the multiple canyons and mountains offer a variety of habitats suitable for many bird species. Some of those species are only found in this corner of the USA since most of their regular range extends well into Mexico, making it appealing to travel there looking for rarities. Additionally, the summer Monsoon rains bring in new life, extending the breeding season for many species which are not present during the spring season.
In this presentation, I will show images of the birds which I have photographed in Arizona during several trips, the last two which took place in April and July of this year.
