Mandarin Bilingual Birding Trip: Bird Photography at Calero Reservoir

Clark’s Grebe by Sarah Chan

Bring your camera and binoculars and enjoy birding and photography at Calero Reservoir, especially the courtship dancing of Western/Clark’s Grebes.

Binoculars: Bring your binoculars, and if you have a scope, bring it along. If you require binoculars, kindly select the "binoculars loaner" option during registration on Eventbrite. Your preparedness ensures a more enjoyable birding experience for everyone.

Trip Difficulty: 1 mile, gravel trails

Other Trip Notes: The trip may be canceled due to special weather considerations, such as rain or fog. In such cases, the lead will send an email in advance to notify about the cancellation. Please be attentive to your email before you embark on the trip.

Meet: Calero Boat Ramp Parking Lot, park in the unpaved area to your right as you enter the park

Directions: From US-101, exit Bailey Ave. Follow Bailey Ave for 3 miles to McKean Rd. Turn right onto McKean Rd. The boat launch area will be on your left in less than 1 mile. Alternately, from CA-85, exit Almaden Expressway south, drive about 5 miles, then turn right onto Harry Rd at the dead end. To the next left onto McKean Rd. The boat launch parking lot will be on the right in about 2 miles. Park in the unpaved parking area to your right as you enter the park. Latitude/Longitude: 37.188048, -121.775595

Facilities: ADA accessible porta-potties, cell phone service

Parking Type and Fees: parking fees (use Santa Clara County Park annual pass, otherwise it is $6.00 per car, credit card only)
