Mandarin Bilingual Field Trip 30: Grebes at Calero Reservoir
It is the most romantic season of the year at Calero Reservoir. In the month of Valentine's Day, we will witness the courtship dance of the Western and Clark's Grebe. These birds display fascinating courtship behaviors such as synchronized movements and weed ceremony. Of course, the most spectacular sight is their intense "rushing" display. In addition, we’ll poke around the edges of the reservoir looking for Common Mergansers and raptors.
Optional: pack your own lunch/snack and we'll picnic together afterwards.
Trip Difficulty: 2.5 miles, dirt trails and gravel roads, muddy or possibly muddy after rain, uneven or rutted trails, little to no shade

Directions: From US-101, exit Bailey Ave. Follow Bailey Ave for 3 miles to McKean Rd. Turn right onto McKean Rd. The boat launch area will be on your left in less than 1 mile. Alternately, from CA-85, exit Almaden Expressway south, drive about 5 miles, then turn right onto Harry Rd at the dead end. To the next left onto McKean Rd.
