Mandarin Bilingual Trip: Eden Landing Ecological Reserve (Hayward)

Least Tern Chuq by Von Rospach

Join us to explore Eden Landing Ecological Reserve, where those iconic salt ponds and salt piles tell the story of the Bay's natural and cultural history.

One of the South Bay's premier birding destinations, Eden Landing features tidal marshes, salt ponds, mudflats, and restored wetlands that support an incredible diversity of birds. Summer is a great time to observe shorebirds such as avocets, stilts, and the elegant Red-necked and Wilson's Pha,laropes, along with herons, egrets, terns, gulls, waterfowl, and raptors. The reserve is also an important breeding site for the threatened Western Snowy Plover and endangered California Least Tern. We'll learn bird identification, behavior, migration, and wetland ecology while exploring one of the Bay's most important habitats for birds.
