Field Trip: Edenvale Garden Park (San Jose)

This urban park next to Hayes Mansion was on the former site of Frontier Village theme park. While following flat, easy trails around the park, we’ll search for resident birds. This flat, easy walk and perfect for new or casual birders of all ages who want a chance to get outside and notice birds living among us every day.

Trip Difficulty: 1 mile, paved trails, little or no elevation gain, some shade

Meet: At eastern park entrance the parking off Edenvale Avenue

Directions: From US-101, take the Blossom Hill Rd exit west. Turn right on Lean Ave. Continue for about 0.8 miles. (Lean Ave becomes Edenvale Ave.) The parking lot will be on your left. From CA-85, take the Blossom Hill Rd exit and turn left onto Blossom Hill Rd. Continue 1 mile then turn left onto Lean Ave. Continue about 1.5 miles (Lean Ave becomes Edenvale Ave). The park will be on your left. Coming from Branham Lane east, take a right on Saddlebrook Dr. and follow it around to Edenvale Ave. and the park will be on the right once you turn onto Edenvale (Edenvale and Saddlebrook are the same road, but change names after a hard curve.)
