Fishing Line and Litter Clean up Day: Let's Help the Birds!
This is a great opportunity to come together as a group and protect the local birds that we love! Unfortunately, injuries—sometimes fatal—caused by fishing line entanglement are all too common at some of our favorite local birding spots.
We’ll meet at Almaden Lake Park (Winfield Blvd side) and divide into small groups to clean up the shoreline. Keep an eye out for fishing line to help prevent our feathered friends from getting tangled or mistakenly using it as nesting material, which can harm their young.
Please use caution while handling fishing line, as it may have old hooks or lures attached. We highly recommend wearing protective gloves and bringing scissors to help remove any tangles along the way.
SCVBA is partnering with local groups who will be providing supplies such as litter pick up sticks and trash bags to assist in our efforts.
Thank you for helping the birds!
