Summer Bird Count Practice

Join field trip leader Ann Hepenstal to practice for the June 7th Summer Bird Count. We'll review the protocol for counting birds, noting breeding behaviors, tracking and reporting our data, and SBC forms. And--we'll have fun spotting birds! Note: attendees are expected to join a Summer Bird Count team. If you're not already signed up, please email paloaltocbc@gmail.com to volunteer.
Trip Difficulty: 1 mile, paved trails, gravel trails, packed-dirt trails, lawns (potentially wet), muddy or possibly muddy after rain, uneven or rutted trails, little or no elevation gain, some shade, poison oak alongside trail (wear long pants)
Other Trip Notes: Trip attendees should participate in the Summer Bird Count.

Meet: Outside the SCVBA Nature Shop
Directions: From I-280 in Cupertino, exit Foothill Expy. Travel south onto Foothill Blvd for 1.3 miles. Turn left onto McClellan Rd and continue for 0.5 miles. Turn left into the overflow parking lot (Latitude/Longitude: 37.313534, -122.064897). The nature shop is located across the creek at the preserve entrance (address: 22221 McClellan Rd, Cupertino, CA 95014, Latitude/Longitude: 37.313072, -122.063695).
Facilities: ADA accessible bathroom, drinking water, cell phone service
Parking Type and Fees: paved parking lot, dirt parking lot, ADA compliant spots, Please use overflow lot. No fees, 2 ADA compliant parking spots in the main parking lot and 2 more in the overflow parking lot
