Join the Young Birders Club on a trip in northern Almaden! We'll begin along the riparian woodlands and conifer groves of the Los Alamitos Creek trail, and continue onto the oak groves, grassy meadows, and sandy trails of the Almaden Lake Park! We'll search for a variety of bird of species, including killdeer, northern harriers, red-tailed hawks, and great egrets, while keeping a special lookout for California quails and mammal species like rabbits, ground squirrels, and more. We may get a chance to observe some interesting child-rearing behaviors!
This trip is designed for young birders, but parents and siblings are welcome to attend. We welcome birders of all skill levels—whether you’ve been birding for years, or never picked up a pair of binoculars before, we’d love to bird with you! Young birders can socialize and have fun birding together. Loaner binoculars are available for participants. Rain cancels.
