YOUNG BIRDERS: PALO ALTO BAYLANDS
Join the Young Birders Club to explores parts of Don Edwards National Wildlife Refuge In Alviso. We'll walk the boardwalk of the New Chicago Marsh - a great spot for shorebirds like Least Sandpiper, Long-billed Dowitchers, and Semipalmated Plover. We'll also explore the upland areas and entrance road.
This trip is designed for young birders, but parents and siblings are welcome to attend. We welcome birders of all skill levels!

Meet: parking lot for the Don Edwards Environmental Education Center
Directions: From CA-237 exit north onto Zanker Rd. Continue on Zanker Rd for about 2.5 miles (Zanker Rd becomes Los Esteros Rd). Make a sharp right turn onto Grand Blvd and continue into the park. Latitude/Longitude: 37.439242, -121.959694Latitude/Longitude: 37.459521, -122.106344

Beginner Friendly, Family Friendly Ages 10 and up
Trip Difficulty: 1 mile. Easy, flat, wide, dirt-packed trails. Some trails have crushed oyster and decomposed granite tread. Some shade, some benches. The Lucy Evans Interpretive Center has a short gravel ramp. Its slope is 5.7%.
There is a wheelchair accessible wooden ramp/path on both sides of the EcoCenter building, leading up to the deck. There are handle bars/railing leading up to and along the deck.
Directions: From US-101 in Palo Alto take Embarcadero Rd east towards the bay. Pass the airport and turn left at the T-intersection. Continue for 0.5 miles passing the duck pond. Just over the bridge, the nature center (2775 Embarcadero Rd) will be on your left and the paved parking area will be on your right. Latitude/Longitude: 37.459521, -122.106344
