Bay Area Bird Photographers: Birding Across India

Birding Across India: Deserts, Mountains, Rainforests and more
by Shweta Shidhore and Vinayak Hebbagil

Wednesday, November 5

7-8:30 pm, online

Being originally from India, our travels back home have offered opportunities to explore some of the country’s most diverse landscapes for birding and wildlife photography. This presentation will take you on a visual journey through these habitats — from the salt pans and deserts of the Rann of Kutch in the west, to the foothills of the western and eastern Himalayas, the lush rainforests of the Western Ghats, and the stark, high-altitude wilderness of Ladakh. Each region reveals a unique set of birds perfectly adapted to its environment including India’s urban areas that surprisingly, host fascinating avian life. Join us as we explore the incredible variety of birds that call these places home through photographs and stories from the field.

Shweta and Vinayak have spent the past decade exploring the wonders of nature through birding and wildlife photography. They lead birding field trips for the Santa Clara Valley Bird Alliance and enjoy discovering both local and faraway wild places. You can find more of their birding and wildlife stories on Instagram at https://instagram.com/converse.with.nature
