Flycatchers: Parts 1,2,3. March 2021
Do your eyes glaze over at the sight of an Empidonax? Don’t know how to pronounce Myiarchus? Can’t keep your Kingbirds straight…? If so, we’ve got something for you! Matthew Dodder teaches a 3-part beginning/intermediate-level class on Flycatcher identification which looks at this large, confusing family as a whole and breaks it down into more manageable bits.
There’s no denying, Flycatchers are definitely one of our most confusing groups, especially with the smaller "Empids”. But there’s wonder in this New World family. We’ll hear their side of this tangled story and learn how you can tell one from another.
Your purchase gives you access to all the video content for a class that was held live as part of SCVAS Learn. Live participants can interact with each other during class and receive access to our Discord server where they can ask the instructor questions, post photos, help each other in bird identification and share stories of their birding trips. Recorded classes do not include these benefits, but contain all of the lecture content from the instructor, as well as supplementary materials, bibliographies and reference links. If you enjoy these recorded classes, consider signing up for one of our live classes. Check the SCVAS website to see which classes are on offer.
