Mike Ambrose went out for a Big Day with a twist this year: to see how many audio recordings he could capture in one day of birding.

Chuq von Rospach challenged himself to a photographic Big Day as his Birdathon swan song, and while it may be our bias, we think he did a pretty great job of it!

The California Towhees set a record for participants this year, 29 on one team!

Ann Verdi, Kirsten Holmquist, and Janna Pauser came together (figuratively) to cover the county in their annual Birdathon effort! No eagle this year, but they had plenty of sightings to make up for it!

The DeDUCKtions covered a massive portion of the county in their 12 hours of active birding to find 153 species!

Roberta Baker visited three parks and made some great artwork with her 4-hour solo Birdathon team.

The Lean Green Birding Machine is part of a long SCVAS tradition of cycling Birdathon teams who manage not to crash while looking for birds on their bikes. This they found 85 species in their trek along the Bay.

Steve Patt and Chuck Wilson proved their birding and running abilities with the Fartlek Falcons’ 9 and a half mile running Birdathon!

Carter Gasiorowski and his dad jumped into Birdathon with a whirlwind tour down Stevens Creek towards the Bay to find 87 species in their 4-hour first ever Birdathon!

Chuq von Rospach took a trip around Santa Clara County in his Big Day. The Lonesome Dove found 77 species and added 8 birds to the personal year list in this tour of the county’s varied habitats

The PALY Wildlife Club searched Shoreline Lake to find 38 species in this 4-hour photography team.

The Subspecies found 122 species in their cross-county, distanced 24-hour team! See the birds and read the adventures here.

Eve Meier and Patricia Lynch took a ramble through the Palo Alto Baylands and the surrounding hotspots for a socially distanced 4-hour trip that saved the species count for the very end.

The Varied Twitchers always rack in the species for Birdathon, and this year was no different despite birding under social distancing restrictions!

The Green Herons pedaled it out for this year’s Birdathon, and by the looks of their report, found more adventure than was bargained for in the process. No birds were harmed in the making of this Birdathon, but we can’t make the same promise for the bikes that were involved.
