We'll explore around Sandy Wool Lake looking for photo opportunities and hike the Tularcitos Trail. Bring your longest focal length lens that you can comfortably hand hold (tripods/monopods are optional). We'll also practice our ear birding skills so that we can comfortably identify all songs and calls in the area.

Trip Difficulty: 3 miles, dirt trails with some elevation gain

Meet: Sandy Wood Lake Gazebo (just east of Sandy Wool Lake parking area)

Directions: From I-680 in Milpitas, exit E Calaveras Blvd and go east for 2 miles. Turn left onto Downing Rd and continue for about a mile, parking at the first parking north of the lake. We'll meet at the Sandy Wool Lake Gazebo on the north side of the lake. Latitude/Longitude: 37.45625265, -121.8644575

Parking Type and Fees: Paved parking. The entrance fee is $6.00.

Facilities: Bathrooms and drinking water is available. Limited cell service.
