Guadalupe Oak Grove Park, an Urban Paradise (San Jose)

Spring activity will have started in this residential Almaden Valley park where wide flat trails meander through groves of oaks. We will look for Yellow-rumped Warblers in breeding plumage, paired-up and nesting Western Bluebirds, and other oak woodland birds such as Acorn Woodpeckers, Chestnut-backed Chickadees, and Oak Titmice.

Trip Difficulty: 2 miles, paved trails, gravel trails, packed-dirt trails, some hills (less than 300 ft elevation gain), some shade

Directions: From CA-85 in San Jose, exit Almaden Expy. Continue south for 1.2 miles then turn right onto McAbee Rd. Travel 0.3 miles on McAbee then turn right onto Thorntree Dr. Parking lot is on your left in 0.3 miles. Latitude/Longitude: 37.236394, -121.878188
