Almaden Lake and the Los Alamitos Creek Trail provide a great mix of habitat including riparian, chaparral, lake, marsh and woods. In spring it is exciting to see the abundance and activity of our local breeders. We will try for 60 species in the morning including Common Merganser, Osprey, Red-shouldered Hawk, California Thrasher, Belted Kingfisher, and Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, among others.
Trip Difficulty: 3-4 miles of easy hiking, level and mostly paved trails.
